Questions

What does “no sides” mean?

On a disputed story we show each side's strongest honest case next to the facts both accept, and we say what's still unknown. We don't add our own verdict.

What's the difference between a story and a note?

A story is researched: several outlets compared, open questions chased down, every line sourced. A note is a line or two on everything else we read, credited to whoever reported it, and marked as not yet checked by us.

Is this written by AI?

Yes, AI models do much of the reading, research and drafting, under written rules: every line must cite a source or it's removed. Tap any underlined line to see what it rests on. See our editorial standards.

How do you choose stories?

Every morning we group the day's reports into events and pick the most important in each section. Contested or confusing stories get full research; clear-cut ones get a quick check of several reports.

How does “For you” work?

Pick your fields (you can pick several). Most of your feed comes from those fields, some from news everyone should know, and some from our researched stories. You can change the mix. Your choices stay in your browser.

Why is a clip I expected missing?

We only show clips from creators an editor has approved, and only after checking them against the reports. See whose clips we use.
